J&C were married in May on the water at Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York. The weather was not cooperating with us that day with a drizzle on and off all morning. However it cleared up just in time for us to setup the ceremony outdoors and for the portraits to happen outside. A million thanks to Poppies and Posies for making the ceremony happen outside on the promenade in the nick of time! One of the many reasons why I love working with trusted professionals who always bring a big team of staff on the day of and can handle anything that nature decides to throw at us. The bride wore a gorgeous gown from Reem Acra and her bridesmaids were in blush dresses of varying styles. The groom and the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos. The groom’s boutonierre was a sprig of rosemary with lily of the valley. The save the date featured the New York City skyline and had the Statue of Liberty in highlighted in metallic foil. Their invitations included a few decorative accents in hand calligraphy, with metallic bronze foil printing. The envelope liner was a map of Brooklyn, where the wedding was to take place!
There is nothing quite like having the sun finally come out and having your ceremony on the water with a view of the Statue of Liberty in the distance! To welcome guests, we had a wooden sign adorned with flowers. Poppies and Posies designed an elegant chuppah using wisteria, smilax, spirea, white lilac, white peonies, pale blush garden roses, and majolica garden roses. An airy cloth covered the top to create the roof of the chuppah.
After the ceremony, guests came inside and up the stairs to the Governor’s Room for the cocktail reception. For signature cocktails, hers was a Cucumber Cooler and his was a Spicy Margarita. Hand calligraphed escort cards were displayed on a round table with a lush floral arrangement filled with romantic peonies, ranunculus, roses and spirea.
Guests adjourned back downstairs to the Harbor Room for dinner. The room had a mixture of round and long tables and to stand out we did a 24 feet long head table made out of three farm tables. I love using taper candles on long tables and these were scattered along with flowers and votives in between. In lieu of a traditional guest book, they chose a different bottle of wine to be placed at each table and guests signed the bottles with metallic markers. The plan is for the bride and groom to open each bottle on their wedding anniversary corresponding to the table number.
Nine Cakes made their 5 tier wedding cake! It had 2 tiers with a gilded deckled buttercream edge and a middle tier with neat little swiss dots. A tumble of lifelike sugar flowers flowed down the tiers. It is so hard to choose a favourite cake flavour, so they had 2 flavours! 1) Alternating banana and chocolate cake with two layers of peanut butter buttercream and the center layer with cream cheese buttercream. 2) Almond cake with two layers of vanilla buttercream with fresh raspberries, and the center layer with raspberry buttercream. For wedding favours, guests were treated to a delicious selection of Milk Bar cake truffles (birthday cake) and cookies (compost, blueberry+cream, cornflake+marshmallow+choc chip). The Marcus Reid Band rocked a great dance party and everyone had a blast dancing the night away under the cafe lights from Pegasus. Thank you to Sasithon Photography for documenting all these beautiful memories for the happy couple.
